Theme: “Gramin Samriddhi - Growth Drivers for Sustainable Rural Development”

With more than 833 million of its people living in rural areas and with its rural sector contributing about 21 percent of the gross domestic product at factor cost at the 2012-13 prices, no strategy of socio-economic development of India that neglects the rural people and the rural areas can be successful. Rural development is, therefore, a sine qua non of overall development in India.
